Thermal solar

The production of domestic hot water (DHW) is the second largest factor of energy consumption at home, representing 24% of the total energy consumption.

HOW TO REDUCE YOUR CONSUMPTION ASSOCIATED WITH AQS PRODUCTION?

The installation of a solar thermal system can supply up to 70% of the hot water needs. This system converts solar energy into useful heat, by installing a solar thermal collector placed outside the building, in which a thermal transfer fluid circulates. A pipe network allows the flow of this fluid between the collector and the accumulation tank and the heating of the water contained therein. The deposit allows the use of hot water in periods when the needs do not coincide with the availability of the resource, such as at night.

The main application of these systems is the production of domestic hot water. However, these systems are an interesting addition to water preheating for underfloor heating and dishwasher / laundry systems (when these allow). It should be borne in mind that solar thermal energy systems need the support of conventional systems for the production of hot water.

Other tips
  1. Systems with hot water build-up are more efficient than instant production and no build-up systems;
  2. It is very important that the accumulators and the hot water distribution pipes are well insulated;
  3. Temperature regulators with thermostats, especially in the shower, can save between 4% and 6% of energy;
  4. A temperature between 30ºC and 35ºC is enough to transmit a feeling of comfort in personal hygiene.
Energy Label

For water heaters (Delegated Regulation (EU) No. 812/2013) three labels are presented, one to classify traditional water heaters, such as water heaters and water heaters, a second for heat pumps, and a third for solar thermal water heaters – thermosyphon system that has an electrical resistance integrated in the accumulation tank.

As with space heaters, a system label has been defined to classify the energy efficiency of a hot water preparation solution consisting of a conventional heater and a solar thermal system. By using a solar thermal system it is possible to produce thermal energy for heating water, which significantly reduces the energy consumption of conventional resources (for example gas, electricity).

How to read the energy label:

  1. Vendor name or trademark
  2. Supplier model
  3. Space heating function
  4. Energy efficiency class of the heating system
  5. Seasonal energy efficiency class of traditional heater
  6. Indication that the system includes a solar device
  7. Indication that the system includes a hot water tank
  8. Indication that the system includes a temperature controller
  9. Indication that the system includes a complementary heater
  1. Vendor name or trademark

  4. Energy efficiency class of the heating system
  5. Seasonal energy efficiency class of traditional heater
  6. Indication that the system includes a solar device
  7. Indication that the system includes a hot water tank
  8. Indication that the system includes a temperature controller
  9. Indication that the system includes a complementary heater
